Leadership

The guiding body of the Small Theatre Alliance of Boston is an Executive Board comprised of four elected officers - President; Vice-President; Treasurer and Clerk - and the General Manager, who is hired by the Board members on a yearly basis.

All officers are elected to a two-year term of service. Two posts are re-elected each year but never all four at once to maintain organizational continuity.

The Board is charged with the organizational leadership of the Alliance and works closely with the Committees to ensure that individual projects are in accordance with the mission of the organization and that such projects are constantly moving forward to provide greater support for all member organizations.

Committees:

The Small Theatre Alliance of Boston is a member-run organization: while the Board serves as the governing body, the work and decisions are made at the committee level. All members have the opportunity to serve on committees.

Marketing:

Robyn Linden, Chair

The Marketing Committee has implemented a shared marketing plan consisting of a website calendar and program insert aimed at promoting the small theatre scene to the general public, and encouraging existing audiences to pursue continued small theatre experiences. The committee aims to continue assessing the marketing and branding needs of the community at large and providing audience members with tools to learn about and attend productions and events by Alliance members.

Education:

Jen O'Connor, Chair

The Education and Outreach Committee supports the small theatre community by building relationships with area educational institutions, increasing student audiences and participants, and cultivating new allies for our work.

Props Storage:

Jesse Strachman, Chair

The Storage Committee maintains and organizaes a shared props storage facility that takes existing resources and pools them into a manageable and accessible central facility.

Events:
The Events Committee is responsible for the organization and implementation of events which provide professional networking opportunities, as well as provoke conversation and communication amongst Alliance members. Past and ongoing events include the Small Talk panel series, the Playwrights' Open Mic Night and FeverFest, a celebration of emerging artists in Boston.

Membership:

The Voting Membership of the Alliance is composed of active committee members. Committees are to be selected, approved, and structured by the Executive Board. Alliance Members may propose new committees and budgets for said committees. All committees and budgets must be approved by the Executive Board. All committee positions are voluntary.
